Serving Opportunities

We believe that living a Christian life includes caring for those around us.

The Church is the Hands and Feet of Christ

We believe that Jesus commanded the church to take care of its members as well as those outside of the church. We strive to fulfill this call by serving within our church community as well as caring for the poor and the oppressed in the global community.

Worship

Worship at Hillside is all about the glory of God.  When we worship God, we recognize that we are not in control, but rather it is God who holds all things together. Our goal is to seek after Him with all of our heart, soul, mind and strength and to continually surrender more of ourselves to Him. We believe that when we encounter the presence of God, He transforms us from the inside out to make us more like Jesus.

We believe that we are called to care for anyone within our community that may be in need.  There are many different needs within our community and therefore many different ways to serve.

Samaritan Meals

There are times in everyone’s life in which they feel overwhelmed and they can use a little help. Samaritan meals is a program that is intended to help take some of the pressure off during these times. We try to provide meals to people during or after an illness or surgery, loss of a family member, the birth of a new baby or any other time someone just needs a little help. If you enjoy making meals and caring for those in need please contact Deb for more information.

Tech Team

As a church, we strive to keep up-to-date with technology that will help us to be efficient and effective in ministry. If you are gifted in the area of technology and computer skills and are willing to share those abilities please contact Andy Pasma for more information.

Funeral Committee

As a church family we want to be there to assist families who have lost loved ones. One of the ways we can do this is by being available to serve a meal after a funeral. If you would be willing to serve by making baked goods or serving for these meals please contact Deb.

In The Community

The church is called not only to care for those within the church but we are called to care for the poor and the hurting wherever they may be found.  We at Hillside take this call very seriously. We believe it is the mission of the church to care for the needy in any way we are able.  In order to fulfill this mission Hillside is involved with many different ministries that strive to care for the people in our community that need help.

Alpha

Alpha is a practical introduction to the Christian faith which tackles life’s most important questions. The course is appropriate for Christians and for those who are seeking to learn more about Christ. It’s a great place for Hillside members to invite their friends and neighbors who don’t know Christ. Alpha is a ten-week course that is offered twice a year at Hillside. An Alpha evening includes dinner, a lesson and a time of small group discussion. If you would like more information please contact Deb.

Townline Bible Club

The Townline Bible Club is held each Tuesday afternoon during the school year from 3:30—4:30. This ministry is focused on children who would otherwise have no other way to learn about the love of God. If you would like more information please contact Deb.

Kids Hope

Kids Hope USA is a ministry that strives to build caring relationships with children “one child, one hour, one church, one school” at a time. We at Hillside embrace this vision and work closely with Kids Hope USA to offer Christian mentoring and support to children in our immediate area who need to experience the changing love of Christ Jesus. If you would like more information, contact Maxine Haagsma.
