Alpha

Walking Through Faith

The Alpha Course is one of the paths Hillside Church uses to help you to explore the basics of the Christian faith and spirituality. It is a safe place where you can share your convictions and questions, build community around the dinner table, and get a taste of what it means to be in a relationship with God that changes your heart and transforms your life.

Upcoming:

What Is Alpha?

ALPHA is: A practical introduction to the Christian faith.

An understandable answer to life's most important questions:
  • What' s the point of life?
  • What happens when we die?
  • Can God forgive even me?
  • Is Jesus still relevant?
The Alpha Course is a series of 10 weeks, meeting on Tuesdays from 6:30 pm for a little over 2 hours. We meet in the church, one session starting in September and the the other in January. We begin with dinner, short time of worship (you don’t need to sing to be part of it), followed by a 20 minute video talk, and we end with an informal discussion in small groups. Childcare is provided. You are welcome to join us any Tuesday even if you’d missed a few meetings.
Anyone interested in finding out more about the Christian faith is welcome.

Learning & Laughter: You can learn about the Christian faith and have fun at the same time.

Pasta & Pie: Eating together gives you an opportunity to get to know each other.

H
elping One Another: Small groups give you a chance to discuss important issues.

Ask absolutely anything: No question is too simple or too hostile.

 What Is Beta

Beta is a time of Bible study that aims for faith nurture and small-group building as we look into the Bible together and (re)discover what God’s Word says and what that means for us today. Beta is available for anyone interested in studying the Bible, straight from the text, in a small group that may include Alpha Course graduates, Hillside members, and others who are interested. The Beta Group follows the same schedule as Alpha, and it offers a safe place where you can share your convictions and questions, build community around the dinner table, and keep growing in your relationship with God and with others in the body of Christ.

The Beta Group meets in the church and uses the same schedule as the Alpha Course: meeting on Tuesday evenings, with supper at 6:30 p.m., followed by a brief time of worship, and then Bible study till about 9:00 p.m
