Walk this Way: Gentleness
Pastor Ron Kool
I know I want more joy. I know I want more peace. I probably even want more patience. But do I really want more gentleness? In a world that runs on power and strength and control, growing in gentleness can seem like we're going to lose the race, like we're going to end up with the nice guys--in last place! This morning we'll think about the power of gentleness.

Walk this Way: Kindness
Pastor Ron Kool
Kindness seems like one of the most generic fruits of the Spirit. Who isn't for kindness? Can't our world always use some more kindness? Yet, when we think about it, we can recognize that kindness is one of the most powerful forces in our world today. We'll reflect on kindness this morning.

Walk this Way: Patience
Pastor Jerry Zandstra
Patience is an essential part of being a Christian but it isn't easy. Will God fulfill His promises to us? Will He give us more than we can handle? Ultimately, patience is the response to tough circumstance and only comes from trusting God to honor his word.

Walk this Way: Peace
Pastor Daniel Bud
Have you heard the latest news? What things can get you in a state of panic? What has the capacity to totally petrify you? Christ Jesus left us in the gentle company of his Spirit. The third fruit of the spirit is peace. Let's allow God's peace to fill our hearts as we are gathered for worship this morning.

Walk this Way: Joy
Pastor Ron Kool
For most of us when we think about following Jesus, we think about stuff like obedience and loving and serving and that's all good. But the Bible makes clear that if we belong to God our lives should also be marked by joy. In fact the second Fruit of the Spirit is Joy and we'll think about how we can experience joy in our lives this morning.

Walk this Way: Love
Pastor Ron Kool
What do you think of when you think of someone being "filled with the Spirit?" Do you think of speaking in tongues, or raising their hands or shouting out loud? That may happen, but the Bible says that the main thing that happens when we are filled with the Spirit is that our lives change--we begin to show the fruit of the Spirit, we beigin to walk in a new and different way. This morning we'll take a look at the first fruit of the Spirit--love.

Under Pressure
Pastor Ron Kool
Even though it's summer, we all know what it's like to feel the pressures of life. We have people to see, places to go and things to do. We have kids to pick up and drop off, reports to write and lawns to cut. And sometimes even going on a vacation sounds like a lot of work. This morning Jesus invites us to come to Him and learn how to handle the stress and the pressure we face in this world.

Maximum Impact: Clear Communication
Pastor Daniel Bud
As disciples of Christ we've been talking about having maximum impact in our community. If you were presented with the opportunity to share the gospel in three minutes, what would you say? What would you communicate about your faith to your neighbor? This morning we're going to look at a few ways of clearly communicating the message of the gospel in three minutes.

Maximum Impact: Close Proximity (part 3)
Pastor Ron Kool
Last week we started talking about how we can begin to build relationships that God might use to make an impact in our world. We talked about identifying people and praying for them. Maximum Impact: Close Proximity (part 1)
Pastor Ron Kool
Most of us wouldn't want to talk about the most important issues in our lives--life and death, love and loss, meaning and purpose--with someone who randomly happened to knock on our doors. We only want to talk about those things with someone we trust, with someone who knows us. The same thing is true with our neighbors who don't know Christ. If we're going to talk to them about the most important things in life, the first thing we have to do is to build a relationship with them. This morning we'll talk about how we can start to do that.

Maximum Impact: Authentic Disciple II
Pastor Ron Kool
We said last week that one of the keys to having a maximum impact for Jesus is being authentic disciples--having integrity. We said that the world needs to see Christians living out their faith. But how can we help the world see Jesus in us without becoming too focused on the externals and losing our authenticity? That's what we'll think about this morning.

Worthy is the Lamb!
Pastor Daniel Bud
We often wonder what is the meaning of our lives. This morning John helps us ask the right question: Who is worthy to solve the riddle of human existence? We're going to discover that human history makes sense only as long as we understand Christ's salvation history. The key to our human history lies in God's hand, and Christ, as the Lamb that was slain, is the One that holds the key and the meaning to our existence. Who is then worthy of our worship"

Easter is a day of joy and hope, a day that is filled with rejoicing. We celebrate that Jesus has risen from the dead and that we can have new life. The news is Great News. It's not fun to be stuck but the good news this morning is that Jesus promises us that He can make a way when there is no way. The Audacity of Christ: I Am the Light of the World
Pastor Ron Kool
Most of us say that we're not afraid of the dark. But if you've ever gone spelunking (exploring caves) and had someone turn off your light so it is absolutely totally dark, you probably would have to admit that you have some fear of the dark. We need light. We need light to guide us and to help us and to protect us. And this morning we'll think about the fact that Jesus is the light of the world.

The Audacity of Christ
Pastor Jerry Zandstra

Life with God: Living by the Book
Pastor Daniel Bud
Have you ever received a text message or an email from God? Have you ever visited God's Facebook fan page? For thousands of years God communicated his loving heart to us, and his communication is his Word, the Bible. When we read the Bible, God speaks to us authoritatively and the Holy Spirit, who inspired the Bible, illuminates us to understand God's messages. Let's include among our 2010 resolutions a decision to pay more attention to check our email inbox so that we give God a chance to better communicate with us. Let's test and see what happens when we get better at regularly paying attention to his text messages.

Life with God: Intimacy with God
Pastor Daniel Bud
One of our faith heroes, prophet Daniel, was thrown into the lions' den because he was praying three times a day. Jesus often spent whole nights in prayer, and he told his disciples to pray. There is no doubt that prayer is among the few marks of a disciple of Christ. And thus, this morning we look at one way we can enhance our prayer life; having a praying list. Let's experience praying for people dear to us, believers and unbelievers, on a regular basis.

The Big Rocks
Pastor Ron Kool
If we live through the entire year, each one of us will have 365 days, 8,760 hours or 525,600 minutes in 2010. One of the most important questions we need to ask ourselves is this: What are we going to do with them? How will we spend them? Where will our time go? The Bible encourages us to make the most of the time that God has given to us and this morning we'll think about investing our lives in the things that matter the most.

The Prince of Peace: Peace Postponed
Pastor Ron Kool
Have you thought of yourself as being at war with God? That's what humanity did in the Garden of Eden when the first couple took Satan's side and declared war on God. Since then the promise of peace is one of those goals that eludes humanity every time we think we've attained it. The everlasting peace comes to us in the Prince of Peace--we celebrate his birth on Christmas. Let's ponder the price Jesus had to pay to bring us back to the God we offended. Peace is not cheap!

The Prince of Peace: Peace Punctured
Pastor Daniel Bud
If there's one thing we can all agree on it's that things are not the way they are supposed to be. We live in a broken world. Wars, disease, family fights, poverty, tornados, natural disasters--in so many ways, we see the brokenness of our world everyday. That's the way it is, but it's not the way God intended it to be. This morning we'll think about what went wrong in this world ad whether we can hope it will ever be right.

Tell Me a Story: The Pharisee and the Tax Collector
Pastor Jerry Zandstra
The nature of the Christian faith is not form. It is a matter of the heart. It is a matter of the attitude toward self, toward other people, and toward God. The Pharisee appears to have everything but his lack of one thing causes his destruction. The Tax Collector has nothing except the one essential thing. As Jesus says, those who humble themselves will be lifted up.

Making Room for Gentiles
Pastor Jerry Zandstra
The early church struggled to include people who were not like them. Following what they believed to be the will of God, they practiced a form of exclusivism in which Gentiles were kept out of the Kingdom. In the Book of Acts, Christ tears down these barriers and teaches Peter and the early church that there are to be no walls between those who are the recipients of His grace and forgiveness.

We ask questions to get information; we ask rhetorical questions to make statements; we ask emotional questions to express our anxiety and apprehension; and we ask probing questions to make people think about matters they might not otherwise think about. During this Lenten series we're going to look at a number of questions that come from close encounters that people had with Jesus during the week before Good Friday and Easter.

People with Purpose: Choose this Day
Pastor Ron Kool
View Description
We don't always like to have to choose. We'd rather keep our options open. We'd rather not limit ourselves. But sometimes we have no choice. We hve to choose. And, Joshua says, today is one of those days.

People with Purpose: Trusting Each Other
Pastor Jerry Zandstra
View Description
Trusting God is one thing. But it's another thing to trust other people. Sometimes we see things happening and we jump to conclusions and we make accusations and we get into a fight before we know all the facts. This morning we'll take a look at a time when this happened in Joshua's day.

Lessons for the Long Haul
Pastor Ron Kool
View Description
If we're honest, we have to admit that there are some parts of the Bible that don't seem to be very helpful. What do lists of names and cities have to do with my life today? This morning we'll see if there are some lessons for us in these lists.

When Someone Takes Advantage of Us
Pastor Ron Kool
View Description
We all have times when people don't treat us very well. They may lie to us or say something bad about us or somehow take advantage of us. At those times we want to do unto others as they have done to us. As tempting as that is, and as much as we may feel like they deserve it, this morning we'll recognize that God calls us to live in a different way--to do right even if others do us wrong.

Desperate Deception
Pastor George Mossel
View Description
Today we are returning to the book of Joshua. In Chapter 9, some clever and desperate people use deception to spare themselves. Very ingenious! Bu do we say 'Good for you' or 'Shame on you'?

Caring Enough to Confront

We've all had times where we've faced a decision. Do we confront someone? Do we have a right to talk to him about what he's done or doing? Should we share our concerns about where she seems to be going? This morning we're going to think about these questions.

Two Kinds of Piety

What does God want from us? What is He looking for? Who are the 'good' people in God's eyes? This morning we'll listen as Jesus shows us some people who thought they knew what God wanted them to act like and a widow who really gave God what He wanted.

At Just the Right Time
Pastor Ron Kool
View Description
During our lives, we learn that there is a right time and place for things and a wrong time and place for things. But sometimes we discover that what we thought was the wrong time and place turns out to be the right time and place. This morning we'll take one more look at the birth of Jesus and try to determine whether it was the right or the wrong time and place.
